6:22 pm	Se pystyy ken uskaltaa. President Martti Ahtisaari from Finland has won the Nobel Peace Prize. It's always cool when somebody from Finland does good. But I in fact have a more direct connection to him. I have dealt with him in my official capacity as local herald. It was back in 1994 when the church of S. Lawrence in Vantaa was celebrating their 500th anniversary. We, meaning the Barony of Aarnimetsä, were contributing to the mediæval ambience to the best of our ability. Mr. Ahtisaari, as President of the Republic, was a guest of honour at the festivities. We provided two guardsmen with halberds to keep the riffraff from disturbing the lunch of Mr. and Ms. Ahtisaari, and a herald to welcome them and invite them to taste some mediæval food. I, being Aarnimetsä Pursuivant at the time, was that herald. The subject line here, "Se pystyy ken uskaltaa", is Mr. Ahtisaari's motto. It's in Finnish, and it means essentially "who dares wins", except its literal meaning is more 'achieving' than 'winning'.
